Eligibility: -Applicants must be in their 3rd or higher year of undergraduate study at WLU.
-Preference will be given to applicants who have not received funding from this program before, and who are majoring in geography or environmental studies programs at WLU, followed by those doing minors or other joint programs with the Department.
-Applicants should include a 500 word statement outlining the proposed research or conference activity and its relevance and significance to the applicant; a print out of the applicants transcript, and a budget outlining the total cost of the activity and all of the anticipated sources of funding.
-Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant’s academic record; the relevance and significance of the proposed activity to the applicant’s academic program and career goals; and the feasibility and significance of the proposed activity/venue, etc

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: Established to support undergraduate students undertaking research or attending conferences relevant to environmental geography and their program of study. The number of applications funded will depend on their quality and the availability of funding, 60% of available funds will be allocated to the fall competition. Requests should not normally exceed $500. Recipients will be required to provide receipts for eligible expenses. The priority for conference attendance support will be students presenting a paper or poster: the priority for research support will be research as part of an undergraduate thesis or major research paper. Activities as part of a field course will not normally be supported. Applications should be directed to Dr Scott Slocombe via the Geography & Environmental office, and should normally be submitted before the proposed activity takes place.
